ISM MERIT  AWARD CEREMONY:

ISM Merit  Award Ceremony, honouring the outstanding achievers of class X and XII in the March 2010 CBSE examinations will be held on Tuesday, 10^th  August 2010  at 6 p.m. in the new multipurpose hall.   We cordially invite all our  parents to attend the same.

INDEPENDENCE DAY:

This year’s India ’s Independence Day celebrations will be held at Indian School Muscat.  H.E. The Ambassador of India, Shri Anil Wadhwa will unfurl the Indian  tricolour at 7.30 a.m.  All parents are cordially invited to attend the function.

The school will remain closed on Sunday,  15^th August 2010 on account of India ’s Independence Day.   We extend our heartfelt  Independence Day   greetings and best wishes to all our students and parents on this  auspicious occasion.

ONAM HOLIDAY :

RAAG DARSHAN:

The next episode of Raag Darshan will be held on Tuesday, 31^st August 2010  at 7.30 p.m. in the old multipurpose hall.  Interested parents are welcome to attend this classical  musical evening which will be put up by the ISM Music Department.

MUSIC EXAMINATION:

ISM Music Department conducts examinations of Akhila Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai, in Hindustani classical vocal, instrumental music and  in Khatak, Odissi and Bharatnatyam in November/December 2010.  Interested parents may contact Mr. Ramesh Ramtekji on GSM 99030680 before 10^th August 2010.

Absenteeism during periodic CCE Tests scheduled in the school calendar:

Any student missing the Formative and Summative Tests conducted as part of CCE Programme, due to travel, sudden illness or any other family emergencies cannot be given retest as per school rules.  Such students will also be not eligible for the annual awards at the end of the session.  However, their promotion to the next class will be considered upon merit in the month of February.  It is requested that parents adhere to the examination dates mentioned in the school calendar issued to all the students at the beginning of the session in April.

PARENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES:

Parent Orientation Programmes for different classes will be held as per the following schedule:

 Parents are requested to attend the POP and sign the ‘Code of Conduct’ for their wards studying in these classes.  After the POP, parents will go to respective class rooms to sign the ‘code of conduct’.

CLASS XI ADMISSION:

Classes for Std. XI will commence on Tuesday, 6^th April 2010.  Books will be sold through class teachers in the respective class rooms.

Students must confirm their admissions by paying the  fees for the term latest by the 15th of April 2010, after which the available seats will be offered to those students on the waiting  list.

ANNUAL ACADEMIC AWARDS 2010:

The Annual Academic Awards 2010 (Middle and Senior Sections) will be held on Thursday, 22^nd   April 2010 at 7 p.m. in the school new  multipurpose hall.   All parents are cordially invited to attend the function.  Please be in your seats latest by 6.45 p.m.

EVENING GAMES:

Evening games will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. during April/May  from Saturdays through Wednesdays.  Parents  must ensure that their wards are picked up from the school immediately after the games are over.

MOBILE PHONES:

Please note that students will not be allowed to bring mobile phones to the school. In case of students bringing mobile  phones, they will be  confiscated and  will not be returned.

Please note that pay phones (card phones) have been installed in the school premises – one phone opposite book store (A Block) and another phone  at the D Block wall, near to E Block staircase.  Please equip  your wards with necessary phone cards  to use these phones, in case of emergency.

DISTRIBUTION OF ANSWER SCRIPTS FOR CLASS IX AND XI

Answer scripts of Std. IX and XI examinations will be shown to the students on Saturday, 20^th  March 2010.  Students must report at 7.10 am on 20/3/2010 and the entire process will get over by 10.30 am.  Parents are requested to pick up your wards by 10.30 am.

Results for these classes will be declared on Wednesday, 24^th March 2010.

Detailed circular regarding sale of books will be sent by the respective Vice-Principals/ KG Supervisor.  Please note that no books will be sold at Jibroo premises.

CLASS XI ADMISSION:

Application forms for provisional admission to class XI at ISM has been  issued to class X students.  Parents are requested to enter the choice of group and other details and submit the same to the senior  Vice-Principal’s office latest by the 15^th of February 2010. Non-submission of application forms on time will deprive the child from getting proper choice of group required.

ANNUAL DAY:

The 35^th   Annual Day function of our school  will be held on Thursday, 18^th February 2010  at 6.30 p.m. in the school premises.   All   parents are cordially invited to attend the function.  Kindly be in your seats latest by 6.15 p.m.  H.E. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Harthy, Minister of Civil Service,  Sultanate of Oman has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest.

I would also like to inform you that Mr. M C Sharma, Controller of Examinations, CBSE will  be the Guest of Honour at the function.

We congratulate the following achievers for having brought honours to their parents and to the school.

a

Siddharth Kerkar (X-H) and Tanvi Gupta (VIII-J) for becoming the runner-up in the TERRAQUIZ 2010 organized by the Energy and Resource Institute, New Delhi from 25^th to 31^st January 2010.  This is a remarkable achievement.  Students from 32 schools all over India and abroad participated in this great  event.  The  students received cash prize of Rs.15,000/- each, Rs.10,000/- for their incidental expenses in Delhi and Rs.30,000/- to facilitate their Air Travel.

b

Pranav Laxmanan of Std.  XII-B has made a brilliant performance in the International SAT examinations conducted all over the world.   He scored a perfect 800 out of 800 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics each; a total of 2400 out of 2400.  Only two students have achieved this outstanding position of being the top scorers in the SAT examinations this year.

DATE SHEET – CLASSES X & XII BOARD EXAMINATIONS:

I would like to inform you that the CBSE has declared dates for the Class X and XII Board Examinations.  Class XII examinations will commence on 3^rd March 2010 and class X will start from 5^th March 2010.  The timetable  has been put up on the students’ notice board.  All examinations will commence at 9.00 am Oman Time.

Please advise your wards to give maximum care and  attention to their studies. The  date sheet is also  available on the CBSE website – www.cbse.nic.in

The school will remain closed on the occasion of India ’s 61^st  Republic Day on Tuesday, 26^th January 2010.

The Secondary School (Class X) and Senior School Certificate (Class XII) Examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education are scheduled to commence from Wednesday, 3^rd March 2010.

OPEN FORUM MEETINGS:

This is to inform you that the Open Forum meetings for the Primary and Kindergarten sections will be held on Tuesday, 24^th   November 2009 and for Middle and Senior sections on Wednesday, 25^th   November 2009 from 7.30 p.m. in the new multipurpose hall.

 We cordially invite all parents to attend the same and request that parents bring up academic and pedagogic  issues that concern the general standard of the  school and also to enhance the support systems or facilities needed for the good of the school. Please do not bring in  personal issues as these are being sorted out and attended to at the level of the Vice-Principals and  the Principal.

We will be most happy for qualitative  suggestions that will add value to innovative programmes in furthering school practices  so that we can give better service to the students who have been entrusted to our care.
